Adelaide
Hello, and welcome to another Workshop Wednesday. So today, you're talking to us about three reasons why you should throw away your health and safety manual.

Zane
Sounds reasonable.

Adelaide
Sounds a little bit extreme to be fair.
So reason number one here, You need to vacuum the dust before you can read it?

Zane
Well, these people, I go into business all the time and you say, where's your safety manual? And they go, shucks, it's around here somewhere and then they look around and they basically look for the dirtiest place of all and, they pull it off and you kind of got to get a vacuum cleaner out and vacuum all the dust off it. But when you open it up inside, it's pristine, pristine condition. Never been looked at.

If you've got that kind of safety manual, throw it out. Don't need it. Bin. Bin it.

Adelaide
Right, so number two. You bought it from some company 10 years ago and it hasn't moved off the shelf.

Zane
Well, this is a really interesting one because we've been talking to a whole lot of people over the last couple weeks and what's happened, Adelaide, is some of these people have paid a lot of money for a beautiful, beautiful health and safety manual.
And the thing is they have absolutely no idea what's in it.

Adelaide
Less than ideal.

Zane
Well, it's got their name on the front, which is good. We've got points for trying. But that's about all they know about the manual.
So I think if you've got that, if you've bought it from someone, maybe 10, 15, 20 years ago, maybe it was fabulous, throw it out.

Get rid of it. Start again. Do something that's real.

Adelaide
Excellent. So you never intend to follow what it says anyway.

Zane
Oh, that's number three, right?
Well, these type of people, what they've done is they've got a health and safety manual. They've written all these things, but it absolutely looks nothing like the work you do. It's so far from what is the real world and practical that it's a waste of time.

So just throw it out again. I mean, what do you need it for? Start again. Do something that makes sense, for goodness sake.

Adelaide
Excellent. So I think there's going to be a lot of people throwing out their health and safety manuals.

Zane
Landfill, here we come.

Adelaide
Oh, goodness.

Zane
Another Workshop Wednesday. Done. That's all we need. Throw it out, three reasons, and off you go.

Go find it. Throw it out. Get rid of it.
